I'm just dying to watch this movie!!! I think Braddock is a great character and I couldn't imagine a better actor to play him. Russell Crowe is just amazin, he has a specific behavior according to each character. I hope this movie is released quicky.

I have a lot to tell. My brother Tony was a close friend of Jim. They met each day at the Park Ave Dinner (restaurant.).Tony would help Jim train by drivind his hardware delivery truck while Jim paced behind him.
During the Great Depression, Jim an unemployed longshoreman was first refused credit to Jim,Hearing that, Brother Tony assured Pa that Jim wouldpay him back, He did, as he did with all his debts. He made a big donation to the Nuns at St. Joseph's Church. Good time Charley's took most of his money with their hard luck stories. My brother (Tony) comitted suicide in 1944 while 3 brothers were overseas. Reason unknown. I know he was very depressed because of our leaving. Today at age 81 I am at a loss trying to reason why.

Hi all, My two lads were just cast for this movie and will be shooting next week. They are playing the role of rich kids that Russell stops on the street and stares at them hoping that one day his kids will be well off too. Thought I would look into what the story was about, being an Irish immigrant myself, I am glad I did! Slainte'

Jimmy Braddock and my father George Weldon were cousins. My dad did a little feather weight boxing himself. I have a lovely photograph of the two of them around 1935. They both died the same year 1974, a month apart. Two decent tough guys.

I live across the street from a beautiful park and lake that bears the champs name.My dad knew the champ and was a lifelong friend of Lud who wrote Reilef to royalty. When my dad passed I FOUND A COPY OF THE BOOK he had in his possesion for over 50 yrs.I PICKED IT UP ONE DAY AND WHEN I PUT IT BACK DOWN I said to myself what a great movie this would make.It is truly a rags to riches story. It embodies all that is great about America and the will of the human spirt.I hope the movie will do justice to a man who possesed all the qualites of a true champion.I never met him,but it would have been an honor and a pleasure

The family historian rests with my Uncle Joe (Braddock) Mallon. Probably the last living relative to be at "The Champs" fights and font of the family story.
Great site for all of us!

James J Braddock was my father and I am thrilled that they are making a movie about him. We have relatives in Canada and I am sure they are pleased that the movie is being
filmed in Canada.

I'm the champ's nephew. My mom was his sister, Helen Mallon. I was a teenager and probably the only living relative that was actually at the fight.

The first article I ever wrote that was published was for a small independent magazine called "Boxing News". My first line was...Jim Braddock was a steveadore from NJ. Cant wait to see this movie! Russell Crowe brought Jack Aubry to life for me, now I am curious to see what this master of the screen can do with a character like Jim Braddock. My money is on another Oscar. Break a leg Russ!

I first met Jim Braddock in the A&P. After my father and I left the store he told me who the man was. As frequenly happens, no sooner had I met the man our paths seemed to cross almost every day. We lived on 79th Street in North Bergen, and during my teenage years Jim bought a house down the block. Whenever he had time, he would walk with me to the park across the street to watch me play baseball or tennis. One of the things that I most fondly remember of him is that he always wore a suit when he left the house. It was a reminder to me that he was ever a gentleman during the twenty years or so that I knew him. Lud Shabazian, his biographer, once told me that Jim was the most decent athlete he had ever met. Family, friends, all of us should take pride in a man who led an exemplary life.

I'd be interested in seeing some stories that family members or friends of the family have to share about James Braddock that they think would like be put in the movie. How excited are you family members and friends that the story is finally going to the big screen?
