By far one of the best screen portrayals of a legendary boxer. James Braddock is a true inspiration and his family, I'm sure, are very proud of him!

I loved the film...Russell Crowe played his part brilliantly as did Paul Giamatti for his part as the manager! An inspirational film about an inspirational man! Thanks for the film and for this website - Both (in my humble opinion) a credit to his memory! A fantastic story!

A phenomenal movie, i've watched it so many times & i still want to watched it again, it gives me courage & hope, understanding the solidness of love of one family, especially during the great depression time....

My wife Marie and I watched the film Cinderella Man last night and before then had, unfortunately, never heard of James J. Braddock. The film makers certainly got a good likeness with Russel Crowe and his portrayal was great. We only wish we could have known such a great man as JJB and what a pity there are not more people like him in this world today.

I watched Russell Crowe in the Cinderella Man this week.....I thought he was brilliant in the role and that James J. Braddock was a real man....I had never heard of the film before or Braddock but am going to get the DVD to watch it again....and introduce him to my family....This web site is fantastic too.Margaret (Oxford)

I watched the film last night along with my wife who never watches Boxing Movies. She really got caught up with this tale and was willing him on at the end.
James Braddock was a good man who cared for his family. He came from good stock. His family can look back with pride.

I watched the film last night along with many others so it appears. A fine tribute to a true gentleman, family man and fighter. Crowe was excellent and the fight scenes were so realistic, I was dodging the punches. What a way to earn your milk!

I had never heard of this film or the man himself untill last night. WOW - I am going to buy a book on the subject (thanks for link in your store) You can see where the first Rocky film came from in many ways - but this guy won. Baer seems to have been portrayed as a bad guy , although he came from simular circumstances as Braddock. I want to find out more about him too. So from now on after a hard week down the coal mine, when I have a scrap in the town centre on a Friday Night I am going to do it for my family......I might actually start winning !!

This amazing story of love and courage should make us all feel humble. A man never to be forgotten. What an amazing legacy to leave for his family.
Perfect casting - Russell Crowe as Jim, he was made for this part. He must have done his homework for this one!
Margaret Marin - Edinburgh, United Kingdom 2009-06-09 12:59:34

Thanks for the website. Like others, I've come looking for a bit more background after having seen the film. I hope Crowe's portrayal was close to the man you knew. A humble, courageous, determined and honest individual. To think of the example he set, and the inspiration he provided, it brought a tear to the eye.
Thanks again.

James Braddock was more that a man he's a god, if most of us were half the man he was the world would be a hell of a lot better. Ive lost count how many times ive seen the film, very emotional, heart warming story, i take a lot from his story and when im down and feeling a bit sorry for myself i watch the film get a reality check pick myself back up and keep going. Love and respect to the man and his family.

What an inspirational story! One man's determination to succeed against all the odds for the good of his family during such troubled times. This story truely is an inspiration to me as a person who has gone back to university, as a mature student, to study to become a teacher to make a better life for my wife and two children, especially in these hard times. This story tells me one thing and that is, no matter how hard things get if you just stop trying, you never will get! Jimmy Braddock! What a legend.

Hi, just saw the film and had to research a little more. Imagine the courage of Mr J Braddock, to have done so well, then during the depression, to have endured all those losing fights, but to keep going in order to feed & clothe his family; only then to go all the way to the top!!! What an inspiration to all generations. A spirit that must never be forgotten!!!
Pany Galanis - London, United Kingdom 2009-06-08 20:23:05

Just watched the film for the first time. I've visited New York in the past and realised some of it's history. But this man and his family are an inspiration to the world of what one can acheive against all the odds. You must be very proud.
