WOW! I just saw the movie and I am truly inspired by Mr. Braddock's story. His story teaches us that with the love and support of family, those around you, and a fierce inner desire, NOTHING is impossible!

This was one first class film. It was worth the ten minutes of junk previews of formula movies and the $9.50! Nice work Mr. Howard. And what great performaces by Giamatti and Crowe.

The Braddock family must be so proud of such a great man.

Very touching movie, obviously about a man who touched many lives. He was a real man, may his spirit live on!

my wife and i just saw Cinderella Man in the theatres, and, it was one of the most moving stories that i have ever seen or heard about...the story of Mr. Braddock really hits the core of what life is about-family, struggle, and unlimited possibilities that are available when one does not quit...truly inspirational...thank you.

I saw the movie about your grandfather yesterday, on his 100th birthday. You must be so proud of your family's roots! As an Irish lass, I enjoyed all the references to my mother's heritage and past. I believe that this story will remain in the hearts of the viewers. Watch for an Oscar nomination!

Great Website! I just saw Cinderella Man and it was wonderful. I've been waiting to see the move since I saw the first advertisement. When my Dad was younger, he loved boxing. He was 10 when Braddock won the title with Bear. He still remembers it as the greatest upset in boxing.

Braddock's story was portrayed so well in this film that I am sure it is an Oscar contender. His love for his family and his rags to riches story is absolutely inspiring. Braddock was there at a time when the common person needed something to believe in. James J. Braddock gave them hope. This was a wonderful story and warm enjoyable film. Don't miss it.

I don't like boxing, I don't like any kind of fighting but this movie was coming out and I like the "actors"...and I came away tonight, liking the story of Jimmy Braddock, the love for his family and honer of who he was and stood for was better than any title or Acadamy Award these actors may recieve. It is a story with heart and soul, which we don't have alot of any more.

I saw the movie for the second time yesterday evening, and found it to be just as riveting as the first. Like a truly good movie, it held together on the second viewing and didn't fall apart with greater scrutiny. It was a fantastic and upbeat movie, it was wholesome and just plain good. It is the kind of story that makes you appreciate the blessings we have and how, as someone stated in the movie, 'there are some people who are worse off than we are'. This is the kind of movie that it is easy to love, it is the story of an underdog overcoming misfortune to surpass what anyone could have reasonably thought possible. I highly recommend it to anyone who likes a good drama, sports fan or not. Kudos to all involved and thanks for such a wonderful movie based upon such a great inspirational character.

Just saw the movie, and was blown away. A real "triumph of the human spirit" kind of movie. I, like many on this board, wanted to learn more about this man, Jim Braddock. He was a true hero, and he was a great diversion to the ubiquitous suffering of so many during The Depression. I'm so glad his story has been told, albeit posthumously.

I just saw the movie today, and what a great movie it is! I had heard the names James Braddock before but I never knew where he fit in as far as boxing history, and the time that he was a fighter. It was before I was born. It is certainly one of the very best movies I have ever seen and my emotions were up and down like a roller coaster! Last years "Million Dollar Baby" can't begin to compare and it won the Oscar for best picture. I am sorry to see that the picture only grossed $18 million the first weekend of release and I sure hope that word of mouth will pump up attendence

My grandparents were from Ireland. The movie really touched an emotional cord with me, to show such a family oriented person, a great character, a real story and an inspirational message that even surpasses boxing, nationality, ethnicity and heritage. I was so happy to see it. I can't wait to use James J. Braddock's story to teach my kids what a real winner and winning is about...character. This man's message transcends time. Everyone can be inspired to put their family first and to fight for them in all things that they do. The boxing movie is really a movie about how to live your life with integrity. God Bless you and thanks for the gift.

I saw the movie yesterday(June 7th) It was one of the best movies that I've ever seen!!! It was sad in some parts but happy in others...I'm 14 and James J. Braddock was an inspiration to me. I hope that some day I could be as good at boxing as he was. Though I'm a little wimp when I'm boxing my dad but I get used to boxing with him and start throwing punches back!!! But of course as a father he takes it easy on me.

I saw the movie yesterday which would have been James Braddock's 100th Birthday...it is also my first born and only son's birthday. An amazing story about an amazing man ....what faith, determination and strength this man had to survive. I would be thrilled and honored to have a relative like James Braddock. Thank you for this wonderful web site to share his story. I really enjoyed it.

Every once in a while a movie is made that leaves one with a lasting impression. Cinderella Man is one of those movies and is absolutely spectacular! We will purchase the DVD upon its release and treasure this brilliant film for years to come. The story of James Braddock should be a reminder to all of us that sometimes we really have very little to complain about in life. This is a wonderful website dedicated to a phenomenal man who is impressing a whole new generation of people through the brilliance of Ron Howard. We hope this movie gets the Oscar recognition it so deserves!

NOT TO TAKE ANYTHING AWAY FROM THE BRADDOCK STORY , BUT MAX BAER ACTUALLY FOUGHT IN THAT FIGHT WITH AN INJURED HAND......KINDA LIKE EARLY IN THE MOVIE LIKE BRADDOCK DID,HUH????
I THINK IT'S A SHAME THE WAY MAX BAER WAS PORTRAYED IN THE MOVIE.
EVEN BRADDOCK ADMITTED BAER WAS A REALLY NICE FELLOW. BAER CRIED OVER THE DEATH OF FRANKIE CAMPBELL AND HELPED PUT HIS CHILDREN THROUGH COLLEGE. IT WAS A GOOD MOVIE BUT PERHAPS MR. HOWARD CAN TRY TELLING THE WHOLE TRUTH IN HIS NEXT MOVIE.
MAX BAER WAS A HERO WHEN HE KO'D MAX SCHMELING IN 1933. ONLY
TROUBLE IS THAT SCHMELING WASN'T
REALLY A NAZI AND HE ACTUALLY HELPED SAVE THE LIFE OF MANY JEWS.
MANY THINGS IN LIFE AS NOT ALWAYS WHAT THEY APPEAR TO BE SO IF YOU WANT TO KNOW THE TRUTH
YOU NEED TO DIG A LITTLE DEEPER THAN A 2 1/2 HOUR MOVIE...........

My husband and I just saw this great movie! I have to admit I "love" Russell Crowe and that was my main reason for going as I have never been a boxing fan. However, my husband IS a boxing fan and he remembered Jim. I had to get on your website as soon as I got home to find out more about the Champ. I truly agree with so many others that say he was a hero! The movie reminded me of my parents struggle in those hard times too. Jim had a big heart for his family - and proved it over and over. Mae was a very blessed woman to have him as her husband and father to their children. Thank God for MEN like him and the legacy he left.

I just finished watching Cinderella Man and I was mesmerized by the character of James Braddock. What an amazing man. I just thought to myself how proud his family must have been of him and how awesome his children must have felt to have such a wonderful father. This story of hope and tenacity just goes to show that real heroes dont have to be fictionalized. They live among us. And this man was a hero.
