Welcome to the official guestbook of the James J Braddock website. Due to spam, we have been forced stop guestbook entries.

My wife and I just saw the movie. It made me want to change my name to James Braddock. He's the kind of man and U.S. citizen I aspire to be.

My wife and I saw the movie today. It was truly a demonstration of courage and strong will. It embraced strong family values, honesty and enviable character. This also is a tribute to his Irish roots and is a heartening reflection about the depression and Hooversville.

Great site, great movie, great story, GREAT MAN! Just came from the movie and was inspired to check out this man on the internet. He was and still is an inspiration to us all. We can always use great role models like him, especially now. Good luck to his family and friends. God Bless.

I, along with my 84 year old Mother, just returned from the beautiful and remarkable film about Jim Braddock. I had not known of him but my mother sure did!!

He is a true inspiration and his story went right to my heart.

I happened to know Max Baer Jr. many years ago in Beverly Hills and visited many times to his home in Benedict Canyon.
He never mentioned his father, ever.

I lost my precious daughter Heidi, four years ago from being overmedicated fighting anorexia for 15 years. She had become toxic from unqualified doctors treating her for depression. I have since formed FOR THE LOVE OF HEIDI-EATING DISORDER EDUCATION CAMPAIGN. and it has gone nationwide, in her memory. There are days when the tears swell up in my eyes and the pit in my stomach is so deep, that I just want to die! This movie gave me so much inspiration to continue my mission, even though at times I don't know if I can make it through the day.
Mr. Braddock certainly had the fortitude to continue against the
odds, and I admire him for this. I had tears welling up in my eyes, as I watched parts of this film, as memories of my Heidi came rushing in, and how hard she tried to find help, when insurane would not cover the out of reach inpatient treatment for eating disorders. That is why I am going to Wash. DC June 20th to take part in the EDC Conference and sign a nere bill to change the discrimination by the insurance industry in not providing treatment coverage.

My stamina has been renewed and I will press forward to make a difference - FOR THE LOVE OF HEIDI

What an inspirational movie! Mr. Braddock was not only a champion inside the ring, his morals and family values made him a champion outside the ring as well. His life truly was the American dream. Thank you for putting together such a great website.

Just saw "Cinderella Man".Great movie about a great boxer and great american. As a fight fan I knew a lot about this man's career but thanks to Ron Howard I now know more about him as a family man and the hardships he endured during The Great Depression. Truly inspirational!

I recall my Dad talking about Jim Braddock when I was a small boy. I just saw the movie. Amongst many great thoughts about him, one I felt very strongly was that there aren't many Americans around like Jim Braddock. He taught his kids the right values & LIVED by them all the time. I cried towards the end because the movie so vividly embraced the thrill of victory over a worthy opponent..........which I'm not sure was Max Baer or the Great Depression which robbed so many of their feelings of worth as individuals. Jim Braddock was an inspiration of courage & triumph over great odds. Thanks for this website, It's great!

What a great movie and tremendous website. Just like many others...I came home moved by "Cinderella Man" and wanted to learn more about James J Braddock. The life lessons taught by Braddock through the movie should impact millions now that his story is being told. Braddock was a true family man with a supportive, loving wife by his side. His values were in perfect order. There's an expression that "good things happen to good people". That was truly the case with James J Braddock.

What a wonderful tribute to a great man. I met Jim back in the 50's when he carried a heavy bag of groceries to my car for me. What a gentleman. I can't wait to see the movie. My husband Bob & I have known the Braddocks for a long time. Their summer home is just down the road from our home. Congratulations to all of the Braddock family members.
Fond regards,

"Cinderella Man". What a great movie. I wish I could make it mandatory viewing for the young people of America who will probably miss out on seeing it. When you talk of true Hollywood Actors of today Crowe, Giamatti, Zellweger fit the talk. These folks stood out over a marvelous crew of supporting actors. And what a class act James A. Braddock was. Just a terrific film...

I remember growing up as a youngster and my father talking about all the heavyweights of that era and of James J. Braddock and his remarkable story. My wife and I went to see Cinderella Man today at the theater and it truly is a marvelous movie...one of the best we have seen in years. It was well done and the ending was wonderful with most of the audience applauding.

Jay Braddock was my father, Davis Gilbert's partner in the Bergen County Sherrifs Department. I met James J. Braddock in 1968 when I was 9 years old. I remember a kind man with snow white hair sitting in an easy chair. They renamed Hudson County Park near his home the James J. Braddock Park shortly after his death.

It was an honor for me to learn about the Braddock family. In the film, "Cinderella Man", I was wondering if the outcome of the Baer vs. Braddock fight would have been the same if Mae would not have supported her husband. I saw the value of a supportive, and loving wife portrayed very well in the film!

What a wonderful gut-wrenching movie. The best movie i've seen in quite some time. I now have a whole new respect for the sport of boxing. Russel and Renea sported an unforgetable performance. Great movie!!!

What a great site and great movie. I had the pleasure of meeting the champ when I was younger and growing up in Cliffside Park....introduced by his grandaugther Susan. The Braddocks lived around the corner from us and you'd be hard pressed to meet a better family. Meeting the champ in his declining years, he showed nothing but class and dignity to all who crossed his path. This, aside from his great accomplishments, is the true measure of the man.
