James J. Braddock, World Heavy-Weight Champion

Welcome to the official guestbook of the James J Braddock website. Due to spam, we have been forced stop guestbook entries.

We saw "Cinderella Man" last night with a sold-out crowd. What a knockout movie! This movie really speaks to the human spirit and the over-all determination and toughness of this man. He was a devoted husband, father and friend. Russell Crowe and Renee Zellweiger were tremendous, and Ron Howard deserves another nod for Best Director. Since it was Memorial Day weekend, some of the proceeds from the ticket sales should go to our military families fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan. It was really moving how the audience applauded the movie at the end.

What more can I say that hasn't already been said re: this excellent film with Crowe and directed by Howard? They both have another Beautiful Mind in this one. There is no other actor today who can move an audience and give a sincere performance like Crowe....he is so believable....he was Jim Braddock! I wish that I had known this fine, wholesome, generous man. He certainly raised the sport of boxing to a higher dimension because of his innate goodness. We should all be able to embody the American spirit the way he did.

I have been looking forward to seeing the film Cinderella Man for a year. Seen the sneak preview last night. Great Film! But even before I seen the film, Braddock inspired me. These days, for folks without a college degree, hope is lost. But as long as I can stand, swing, and breathe, I have a chance. Thanks Jimmy! - www.BOXING4FREE.com -

Congratulations once again to Ron Howard and Russell Crowe! Three friends (all of us women) went to a sneak preview last night and we were clapping with everyone else at the end of the movie. What a tribute to a man and his wife struggling in the Great Depression to keep their family together and what a lesson for us today.

Cinderfella was truly moving. Braddock's grit and love for his family is moving. His making the most of any hardscrabble opportunity is the American Dream incarnate. No doubt his dignity and triumph in the Baer fight will be remembered for many generations to come.

I just got out of a sneak preview of the movie. It was an incredibly moving and touching story, about not only Braddock, but about a wife who supported him in the good and bad times, and a wonderful family. This movie will go down as one of my personal favorites. A masterpiece. You will fall in love with with him, and the movie.

We just got back home from seeing the wonderful movie, Cinderella man.
My daughter called me as soon as she got home and found thid web-site. That is why I am here now. I loved the movie, and it moved us all so much. I will always remember it whenever I think that times are tough, and thing seems bad. Mr. Braddock was a great fighter, but his love for family touched my heart the most. I think love made him that great fighter.

My wife and I give kudos to everyone associated with this magnificent piece of cinematic art. The performance by Russell Crowe was heartfelt and does James Braddock proud, which is all one can ask for when portraying an actual person. I see Oscar in his future...(not De La Hoya)

just saw a sneak preview of Cinderella man ..Russell Crowe is my favorite actor. if someone has to portray a real person Russell is the one to get the job done! Don't know much about boxing but taking care of a family I do...Jimmy Braddock looks like he did what he knew how to do...and was a good dad! Nice web site too!

My father being the huge boxing fan he is, took me to see this magnificent movie! What a great movie it was, but the best part is that it's a true story about an amazing man and family!! It just warms my heart to know your story and still have faith and believe in people! I absolutely LOVED this movie!!!!

first of all, thanks to ron howard for making this movie. and kudos to great performances by all actors.

we not only get to see the life of james j braddock, but we almost feel like we are in that same neighborhood with he and his family...watching them struggle during the depression...and then realizing just how lucky we are to be living in these present times.

okay....are me and my fiance the only ones who came out of that movie knowing where sylvester stallone got his "rocky" script???? we sat shocked as the credits rolled by, helpless to right this wrong! the life of james braddock, according to this movie, was the mirror of "rocky"...all the way down to the turtles. i don't know how much creative license ron howard took in this movie, but you can't help but feel as though sylvester stallone has plagarized the life of james braddock!

for shame, sylvester! when any of the "rocky" movies come on tv, i will forever know you stole mr. braddock's story for your own gain, without giving him credit. i don't know how you can sleep at night....but now the truth is out. i won't go into details, in case anyone on this site hasn't seen the movie yet, but those of you that have...am i not right about this?

when "rocky" movies are shown on tv, i will always remember that james j. braddock was the true boxer. sly, change the name of your multi-million dollar movies to "rocky: based on the true story of james braddock..only hollywood style".

i am no longer a sylvester stallone/rocky fan...i am now a JAMES J. BRADDOCK FAN.

dear braddock family, i loved the movie...thanks for letting us learn more about your father!
