After watching "Cinderella Man", I had to find out more about James J. Braddock. This was truly an amazing and inspirational story. I am very thankful that Hollywood has made this movie because it has allowed people who have not heard of James J. Braddock to understand what a great man he was. I think it is absolutely wonderful that your family is keeping Mr. Braddock's legacy alive with this website.

My boyfriend and I just saw this wonderful film tonight! ... What a highly inspirational story! ... and I, too, had to "Google" to learn more about the "real man" and his lovely family!
In these trying and turbulent times of ours in The World today, I think it is most important to reflect on - and always remember - the RIGHT "code of ethics" - and the important values and virtues of humanism, honesty, integrity, accountability, and perseverance!
BRAVO Braddock Family!! I know how proud you must be!

Nice to learn about a boxing story that was positive in and outside of the ring. His story would not have been made unless he made a significant contribution to his friends, family and community after his boxing career. God speed

The movie Cinderella Man was a fantastic tribute to your father and beautiful family. He certainly was a role model for anyone from any generation. His courage, stamina, persistance and character are virtues we should all try to emulate. The support your Mother gave John J. throughout those difficult times was exemplary. The attributes your parents displayed, which kept the marriage strong ,should be a blueprint for our young people today who so often opt out when the going gets tough. I was very moved by the story of your family so realistically portrayed in this movie. Thank you for the complete website which the movie motivated me to explore. Gail

I just saw the movie and I can't believe I've never heard the story of James Braddock before now. The most inspiring and well done movie I've seen in a long time. A movie that was long overdue in my opinion.

To say this was a great movie is a severe understatement. I will get the book by Schaap for Father's Day. What even further impressed me with Jim Braddock was that this man also served his country in WWII. Thank you Jim!

My grandparents often told me about the struggles they experienced because of the great depression. I grew up respecting their courage and strength. You have an amazing grandfather for not only surviving but also succeeding during such a trying time in our nations history. I am very grateful that you are encouraging his legacy to live on-it is an inspirational story for everyone one to hear. Thank you!

Just returned from seeing this inspirational movie with my 17 yr. old daughter. Why hasn't his story been told before? He is a man who each young man today should use as a model -- his determination and his love and devotion to family should be a model for each family man. Thank you for this site.

I also just saw Cinderella Man; I saw it with my mother. It was such a heartwarming movie. My mom and I have been to see many movies together, but none have affected us the way this movie did. We were both so deeply touched. James Braddick's story is quite an inspirational one, and I hope the story goes on to other generations to teach that everyone still has hope. Your grandfather ROCKS! Thanks!

I saw Cinderella Man and what a wonderful movie. Not only was it brought to us by such a great director in Ron Howard I think he had a great and inspiring man's life story to work with in James J. Braddock. I left the movie wishing I could be just half the man Jim was to his family and to his friend. Kudos

I, too, was inspired so much by this individual to do a little additional research. What a joy it was to find this website and the information that it held. The movie really touched my heart...but more so, James Braddock seems to have touched many lives...not only during his lifetime, but into many others as well. Thank you for allowing his inspirational story to be told.

While watching Cinderella Man, I was privileged to be in surround-sound. Not only did I hear the dialogue coming from the screen story, but I heard the older gentleman to my right, reliving the days of his youth. "That's Lasky," he called out and "I remember the day Jimmy knocked out Lewis."
Hearing your grandfather's story retold was not only heartwarming and inspirational but it's a mirror for many who have encountered poverty or near poverty after having made it...myself included. My tears and cheers came from the heart.
As my dad would say, "You muddle through," and most certain, Jimmy Braddock muddled very well!

Jim Braddock was an inspiration to all during a very hard time in a lot of people's lives. I am sure everyone was grasping for hope so Jim became their hope. His life was more than a boxing story. Jim dug deep within himself to get the courage that was needed for all his successes. He became the light in people's lives. He fought not only for the title but for his family and all the suffering souls during the depression. Thank God for Jim Braddock.
