My wife and I just saw the movie Cinderella Man. It was the best boxing movie that we had ever seen. The acting was incredible. However above all that, the story of James J. Braddock remains absolutely inspirational. What an incredible man with a great heart!! My wife and I clenched our hands and held our breath throughout the last few minutes of James Braddock's fight with Max Baer. This is a movie that we will remember for a lifetime. To James III who runs this website (with your cousin John Van Vugt), we are proud to have shared these movie moments with a great man - your grandfather James J. Braddock. Thank you for sharing his story.

My dad, Asa Dunnington, Sr., who was born in 1919 used to talk about James J. Braddock all the time, but until I saw "Cinderella Man" tonight I didn't appreciate what a man Jim Braddock was. He and I have the same birthday, 33 years apart so Tues. when I turn 66 I will say a special prayer for Jim. I would like to have seen pictures of Mae and the children also. Loved the picture and the life of James J. Braddock.

I saw 'Cinderella Man' last night and I simply adored it. I don't know a whole lot about boxing, but I really enjoyed learning about James' story. He seemed like a truly one of a kind, wonderful man.

My wife and I just returned from viewing the movie and what a wonderful tribute to not only a courageous fighter; but more importantly the love James Braddock had for his family and his country. The best movie we have seen in quite sometime. The comment made in an earlier email by Chuck Wepner was classless in that Wepner said Braddock was a bum who got lucky. Wepner did not possess half the heart and integrity that Braddock possessed. Wepner was a barroom brawler that never recognized the skills of his opponents and could not punch his way out of a cellophane wrapper. All you have to do is review his record. I would recommend the movie as it is much more than just a fight movie. It is a love story that happens to have some good fight sequences. My wife and I came away with a wonderful feeling for a class citizen. The movie was well cast by Ron Howard one of our favorite persons in the entertainment arena.

My wife and I saw the movie today and we were thoroughly impressed! The great thing about it is,its the story of a real person. What a hero! I see Oscar nominations all over the place! Russel and Renee were dynamite and Paul Giamante outdid himself! And what can you say about Ron Howard?

Just returned from seeing the movie Cinderlla Man. I am totally in awe. It
brought to light the pain of the depression and the strong love he had for his family. Highly emotional, I was not ready for such a moving experince. The theatere was sead pin silent until the end when there was applause. To his family I say , what a wonder gift he was to you.
Don't miss seeing Jim's story!

My day was quite the boxing fan. He said he would climb in the ring with anyone for the money they were getting....except for one man...Jim Braddock.

The story of Jim Braddock and of his determination to fight for his family is quite inspirational. I watched a documentary a few months ago about the great depression and FDR but Jim's story really brought it home for me about how it must have been then.

The movie is wonderful. I was especially impressed with Paul Giamati's performance depicting Joe Gould, Jim's manager and friend. If Jim's courage and determination was only half of what transpires in this movie, he was a great man indeed.

Thank you for sharing this story with the rest of us.

James, your grandfather was a true American hero at a time when America needed heroes. He was an inspiration to millions. You must be very proud of him.

I am so truly impressed with this movie. The story, the acting, Ron Howard... My husband and I clenched each others hands in the final scene as Braddock battled Baer. This is no doubt the best movie I've seen in years. It did everything you hope a move will do. It inspired, it provoked thought and emotions, it entertained.

One of the most inspiring movies ever made! I cried from start to finish. Jim Braddock's integrity and love for his family is beyond admirable. What a refreshing movie that is set apart from all the rest. LOVED IT!!

Just returned from the movie and feel very inspired and moved by the character and heart of James Braddock. In the most difficult of times he never sold out or compromised his ideals but persevered and came out on top. I had not known he also served in World War II. I was raised in New Jersey and far to young to remember James Braddock in his prime but I'm betting my father probably listened to that title bout on the radio. James Bradock is a fine example of how to keep your priorities straight in life and keep family in the forefront. In today's culture people divorce for the slightest reason but James Braddock had committment and integrity. Great story, great man. - Robert Lewis, Albuquerque, NM (formerly from Englewood, NJ)

I LOVED the movie...what a wonderful family man who had a loving, strong marriage. His wife Mae must've been quite an inspiration herself.

The actors -especially Russell Crowe and Renee Zellwegger- played their parts with such conviction and emotion.

I highly recommend the movie and this website.

This movie lived up to my every expectation. The strength and loving bond within his family was remarkable. The close relationship that he and his wife had brought tears to my eyes. We need to have more movies like this. It's nice to know that this was a true story. Thank you for a wonderful experience.

This movie was so inspiring. It makes me want to be grateful for what I have and I can't wait for the movie to come out on DVD.

He fought for America when many Americans didn't have the heart to fight anymore. If Jimmy Braddock was half the man that Ron Howard portayed him to be--and I suspect he was more than twice the man the movie shows us--I'd have been priviledged to know him. I hope this film unites his family and ignites hope in our country as Jimmy's life did. Long live the Cinderella Man.
