I just saw the movie Cinderella Man last night and thought it was an amazing portrayal of an amazing man. His high family values are a lesson to us all and I know I will never forget the name James J Braddock.

I've just seen this amazing movie,and I wonder how could this Champion beat the challengers during the time of the depression.He tried to give everything to his family,it could be a good example to everyone who is in bad situation.

One of the most powerful portraits of a sporting hero that i have ever seen. Not only was he a great fighter but a man who had great morales and family values. Coming from the same high school as Russel Crowe and meeting him on several occasions while playing for the Sydney Boys High First XV i found that Russel shared similar life values to the man himself , and played the role superbably (go the bunnies). I was impressed so much with the movie and james Braddock the unsung hero ,that i cant stop telling people to see it as it is the greatest example of what life is really about. Especially living in a world full money hungry and materialistic generation of selfishness

I don't agree with an upper statement. Of course he should be listed as top 10 boxers through all time, just because he was a white man, doesn't mean the opposite. White men used to be more engaged in boxing in earlier days; Braddock, Jake de la Motta etc.

I saw the movie recently. I am currently suffering from clinical depression. I was initially reluctant to see the movie but it proved to be an inspirational account of a great man and I believe that it will help me with my recovery.

James J Braddock was a true gentleman and will never be forgotten.

My knowledge of the earlier days of boxing did not include James however I saw the movie just tonight and it is truly an amazing life. I came straight to the web to find out more about him and see if this was another exagerated story from hollywood however as far as I can tell the story that was told was very close to the real life detail. He is an inspiration. Makes me kind of wish I was around in the depression to witness him for myself :) - Thanks

The 1st time I read the story of Jim Braddock was in '88 when I was just a boy. All I know that he is just a lucky contender who fought the champ and... win. Just a lucky contender... BUT after seeing the movie, I realized that Jim's story is a 'bigger than life' story, inspirational, ... the true story of courage... he is the champ in and out of the ring... Maybe Braddock is not listed as top 10 great champion in the heavyweight division, but he'll be remembered for his inspirational story. God Bless Jim Braddock & his family !

im only 22 and as a fighter myself Jim Braddock is an inspiration to me to see the courage and determination of one man against huge odds and see him triumph will stay in the hearts of many

i saw the movie today, i i was moved...iv never been into boxin much, but this was different.
why haven we heard of mr. braddock untill now?
what a hero he was....im so proud o him, for being honest even in the hardest of times, for not lettin his son steal, for not packin his children away...for all what he was....for not lettin go...what a man...

just read he died in his sleep....even the lord knows how to take angles away, painlessly....

I have just come home from watching this movie with some friends. I am so proud of Russell's performance-it truly inspired me to check out about James Braddock a true hero. I hope that same spirit has passed on to his descendants. Thank you to the Braddock family for sharing their story.

Great movie, i specificly don't like boxing as a sport, but this movie isn`t about boxing, it is about never surrender and be honest fristly whit oneself and with your family.

my name is josip lisica i am croation and i live in sydney. when i first saw the film with my brother frane it was so toughing i could not get out of my seat it was so inspiering to me that i had to watch it again so the next day i went with my dad (sunday) as soon as i showed my dad the live images and footage of james jay braddock on this website he loved it. he says when he watched he even cried. and now i have just done a speech about james braddock in fron of my school and i also showed on an overhead in a big screen of james braddock and real picture's of him i thank you's for making this website

I was dragged to the theatre to see the movie, and was entranced by the performances of Crowe & Zellweger. But more inspiring was the character of the man, James J Braddock. His devotion to family and his pride in times of hardship were unbelievable, particularly when he handed back his welfare money.

Like others, I was surprised to find out the story was true and thank you to this website for the information. I cannot wait to go see the flick again, this time with my children, so they can see that you don't need the material things to make for full life!

What more to say? It makes us all think of our purpose in life! A role model of modesty, corage and honour! Sufise to say, a HERO! Kindest regards to all J.J. Braddock relatives from Portugal (tiny place in Europe :) )

I just came home from the theather.. Believe or not this is the second time I watched this TERRIFIC movie.. There are no words to describe the "faith" of the "Hero" , Mr. Braddock..
It is a moving story that really leds us to be still thankful and not to give up in hard times.. Just couldn't stop my tears flowing..
I should also congratulate Russel Crowe and Renee Zellweger for their fantastic performances that made us feel deeply what might have felt the Braddock Family on those hard times..
