I went and saw the movie last night. My shoulders were twitching with Mr. Braddock's punches. Such an awesome story, and truly a great man...even 70 some years later, the Cinderella Man still inspires people.
GO JIMMY!!!! *loud whistle

Excellent movie – FINALLY, a movie worth the trip to the theater!! I am proud that a heavyweight champ came from my hometown of North Bergen, NJ. Now I know who & why they named the HUGE & beautiful park after that I used to live next to. I thought it was after some local politician. I couldn’t have been more wrong. Thank you for sharing his inspirational story.

Anyone who survived the true depths of the depression is a hero. In this movie, I could nearly smell the urine and stale grease in the basement apartment.
It's too bad that today's kids have no idea what the depression was really like, nor what life, itself, was really like in these days. Neither better nor worse days, they WERE different, and I think the people were stronger for it.

Just saw the movie today and it was absolutely the best I have EVER seen! It really touched my life and should make us all realize just how lucky we all are today! James Braddock's story was truly an inspiration and Russell Crowe was a main ingredient for telling it! Brilliant!!!!

Thanks for the web-site! Good to read this from the Grandson of James J. Braddock... so you know the information is accurate!
Just saw the movie... looks as tho they took some literary licenses, which Hollywood seems to do a lot.

Probably one of the best stories of guts, grit and determination ever. Not the best BOXING movie ever made but maybe the best story of a BOXER ever told. Great Job You give the kids of this country insight of real life.

I play my company softball games at James J. Braddock Park in North Bergen NJ; and with all the times I've passed the sign that bares Mr. Braddock's name I never gave it a thought as to who he was...At least until I saw the movie Cinderella Man..The movie , I'm sure does'nt do justice to the real life struggle this man and his family went through..He is a national treasure and a true inspiration to all generations...

Best movie I have ever seen, and it portrayed Jimmy's life so well what he went through. I am a boxer myself, and this movie just gave me new insight on this sport and life as well. He is a great inspiration and is one of my most heartfelt boxers I look and study. I rank him in the top 5 of all time up there with Ali and Marciano. Great man and a great inspiration.

I thought that Jim Braddock was used by God to lift the spirit of The United States...I also think that He defeated the spirit behind Hitler before WWII.

Saw the movie last night (another great job by Russell Crowe & Renee Zelwegger, by the way). Strangely enough--guess I was too young--even tho my mother was a boxing enthusiast and my father an amateur lightweight boxer, I don't recall Jimmy Braddock's name. I'll sure remember it now! What a wonderful, touching, inspirational story of love of family, love of country, and determination. Mr. Braddock's family should be very proud!
D. Pisani - Baton Rouge, Louisiana USA [2005-06-16 14:19:26]
I saw the movie last night. It was a wonderful story of a man who loved his family above all else. His love, drive and determination took him to the top.
He seemed to be such an honorable man...one that makes Americans' proud. If he really gave the public assistance money back, as was depicted in the movie, that is a wonderful thing.
I cheered and cried out loud and sat on the edge of my seat, praying and routing for James Braddock in his fight against Baer, because i didn't know his story beyond the inspiration he gave to his fellow Americans...
You, his family must be so proud of the heritagge you have from James Braddock...How wonderful!

One of the best movies I have seen in quite a while. Braddock's story touched me deeply. Braddock's family should be quite proud. Thanks to all involved in making the movie in order to get the story out. I don't know if the movie's portrayal of Braddock's wife was accurate, but if it was, Braddock was one very lucky man in that regard as well.
John Newton - Round Rock, Texas USA [2005-06-16 08:48:55]
One of the best movies I have ever seen. He was very inspirational and extremly intelligent, based on what I have read about his negotiation skills later with Joe Louis to obtain 10% of his future winnings. I wish I had the pleasure to meet this fine athlete, business and family man.
Neil Talling - Courtice, Ontario Canada [2005-06-16 06:38:42]
What a glorious American hero he remains! That kind of courage an tenacity is the product of real charactera and style. Two things - his sense of family and his incredible courage are what we ought to remember. And let's not forget that this fellow was a champ because he damn well knew how to box. This guy was the essence of "class" and it's about time that every kind in the USA discovered a monumental heor named James Braddock,
J. Margolis - Los Angeles, Ca USA [2005-06-16 04:46:56]
The best boxing film of all time. A wonderfully told story of hardship, determination, courage, integrity and strong family values. This film has set the standard for documenting the survival of the human spirit when faced with unbearable adversity. Great performances by the cast and an Oscar deserving directing job by Ron Howard.
