James J. Braddock - Guestbook
Welcome to the official guestbook of the James J Braddock website. Due to spam, we have been forced stop guestbook entries.
I was inspired by the movie and took my sons James and Scott to see it yeterday. Today James said, 'Dad, today is 70 years ago Braddock beat Baer for the Title!"

What a wonderful movie! I was born in 1931 and lived through the Great Depression. It was portrayed as it really existed. Those who had money made even more, while those without ended up with less. I recall listening to the Joe Louis- Jimmy Bradock fight with my family. The heavy weight championship on the radio was a very big deal in those days.

Great movie about a great man. We took our 14 yr old son and he loved it too. More kids should see it and learn to appreciate a true champion and a hero who had real values and convictions. What a legacy for his children and grandchildren. I thought the underlying love story of Jim and Mae was also inspiring.

The best part about this wonderful film is that it is a true story. It is nice that someone of Jim Braddock's character really did end up as a champion.

Normally I would never go to a movie about "boxing", but a friend wanted to go, and I was not sorry. I thoroughly enjoyed it, and felt it really brought out the warm humanity of the man, well played by Russell Crowe. I shed a tear or two. The whole cast was great, and I've enjoyed reading your bio of Braddock on this website.

Great movie, great man, excellent website. Thanks for all the information about Jim Braddock, he is truly an inspiration for the average guy. We need more movies about real heroes like James J. I took my mom to see this movie because "russell crowe is handsome". This turned out to be the best movie I have seen in a long long time! Just Excellent! Not being a boxing fan; I was on the edge of my seat not knowing who would win each match. You could tell alot of times, the audience just wanted to shout or cheer outloud, but held it back...This movie deserves a standing ovation. Hooray for another wonderful Ron Howard film! And I enjoyed also finding out the true story of the this man JAMES J BRADDOCK, a true hero. This would make a great movie to take Dad to on father's day...in fact a good movie for everyone! I will be taking my husband and kids this weekend!

I just saw the movie today, the 13th. I didn't know it was the 70th anniversary before I saw it. I thought the movie was the best I've seen in a long time. I'm glad I know something about James Braddock's life. I'm Irish too!

I took an elderly Benedictine monk to see Ron Howard's film today. Imagine my surprise during the film to learn that today was the actual 70th anniversary of this great sports upset!! I was quite honored to mark this occasion. It is wonderful for the descendents of Jimmy and Mae Braddock to have such a legacy to be proud of. Being of Irish descent myself, I came away from the film very proud myself. May their souls rest in peace!

Sure to be an Oscar winner!! Ampther Ron Howard masterpice. Russell Crowe gives an honest portrayal (his best since A Beautful Mind) of a hard-working, everyday Joe, who is driven by love and devotion to his family. Great acting by Pauk Giamatti and Rene Zellweger,
Great cinematography--you felt you were in the Great Depression. I am sorry I was not around to see Mr Braddock in the 30s. He defines good family man & great human being. A film all should srr. Now i know where Stallone got his inspiration for Rocky.

I thoroughly enjoyed this movie, even though some of the fight scenes made my heart race and my stomach a little squeamish. One of the things that impressed me most about this movie was the portrayal of love James Braddock had for his family and his temperance. This movie is a definite must see!

I grew in a boxing family. I have trained ever since I could remember. I think the Cinderella Man is more a movie of guts, family and never give up. Great Job Ron Howard and cast! No standing 8 this one is a big KO!!

Cinderella Man was an exceptional movie. The fight scenes were amazing and the portrayal of Braddock and his family awe-inspiring. As a resident of Toronto, I passed the "Madison Square Garden" set every day on my way to work. The crew transformed a block of our city into a vision of the past and every day I felt as if something great was about to happen on screen. Congrats to the crew, actors and to Ron Howard for making that happen.

I saw the movie saturday night. It was 10x better than I expected. What an inspiration he was to his family, North Bergen and the rest of the nation. I am proud to be born and raised in North Bergen, New Jersey. My dad was lucky enough to meet Mr. Braddock when he came to Lincoln School to help teach the neighboorhood kids boxing. I can't wait to see it a second time. Guy & Raymond, send me an email if you see this. Frankie.
