James J. Braddock, World Heavy-Weight Champion

Welcome to the official guestbook of the James J Braddock website. Due to spam, we have been forced stop guestbook entries.

What a great movie about a true Amercan sports hero!! Today's athletes should see this movie to see how they should conduct themselves and use Jim as a role model. He was a great boxer and a better human being! Best wishes to his family.

Wow... the movie was so great, I'm still thinking about it 3 days later. I wonder how true-to-life it was; if it was, then what an athlete, what a man, what an inspiration. I wish I could say thanks to the filmmakers, but even more thanks to those who obviously worked very hard to make this website what it is. It would have been easier to leave family life private, but this family's story enriches so many people's lives all of this time later, it is truly a gift to the rest of us. THANK YOU for all of the hard work, for sharing the photos, etc. etc.

The James J. Braddock story is such an great American story! I'm originally from Jersey... (Lodi), not far from the area Braddock was from... and the actors in the movie got the "Jersey accent" of West New York - North Bergen down pretty good. This was a story of character, integrity, love and relationships all around! Wow! Every American should see it... and every Jerseyite should be twice as proud! I salute the Braddock family that remain. As this movie lights up theater screens across the nation and the world... I hope the remaining Braddock children, appear on TV shows, and write magazine pieces to illuminate even more of the "special" relationship Jim and Mae had, and other facts as yet unpublished about their Dad's career and life... to make the record more clear and even more beautiful! I thought the movie was "great!" Go see it!!!!!

If there was ever a need for a role model I think this old story is a breath of fresh air for todays youth. Never knowing the man, I can tell that this man was a man of principles, ethics, and morals. He inspired me without ever meeting me. I can only hope that my own life's struggles can inspire my children like this man's did. I know that his kids and grandchildren will never let this "GREAT MAN" legend ever die. That they admire him to this day. Bravo Jim, well done!! You should be proud of your accomplishments and of your family.

I just got back from seeing this wonderful film of a truely fine mans' man. James Braddock was a testament to what being a husband, father, friend and citizen should be like.

I didn't think there was a single false note in the entire movie. What a man. The real man and the actor. --and the director.

My wife and I were both blown away by Ron Howard's movie. In today's erea where too many men are not involved in their kids' lives, it was refreshing to see a story of a man who viewed himself as a husband and father above all else with a high level of integrity. The movies does not sugar coat the sport of boxing or the tough times of the depression.

What a fine film that Producer Brian Grazer has brought to the screen! Director Ron Howard has woven a masterpiece with the help of a finely tuned cast and countless others!
The story of folk-hero James J. Braddock is TRULY inspirational for the REAL “Silent Majority” (the “working class”) and others. The Braddock couple, displaying such Love & Integrity for all to share, were truly heartwarming for me & more closely matched my vision of “being Christian to one another” than the so-called Christians that media has embraced and displayed for far too many years.
This film deserves many awards (including Best Director for Ron Howard) and makes a powerful statement of determination, courage, and integrity!

Best sports movie I ever saw. I am grateful the story was captured and placed on film.

I never had much interest in boxing before I saw the new movie. I really learned what life was about during the great depression, I knew it was bad but this movie is very educational as well. I love the trolley in the beginning of the movie, way to go Toronto. I have great respect for Mr. Braddock now.

Thank you to all those who held, created, supported, and brought this production to life on the screen. It is the type of film that makes viewers want to know more about Jim, Mae and those kids. Why? Because all the right ingredients were in that family--love, trust, committment, self-sacrifice, no complaining, vision, thankfulness, humility, and a dependence on God. I guess we all just want to see how the cake turned out. It looks like it was a sweet, substantial, high riser with lots of wonderful tasty frosting to hold it all together. There is a scripture that says, "Humble yourself in the sight of the Lord and He will lift you up." That is exactly what I saw in Mr. Braddock's way of walking in this world.

Thank you Ron Howard for giving us a story of courage and love and devotion. While I am not a boxing fan James Braddock was much more than just a boxer. His devotion and love for his family was what truly made him a great hero. And in this day and age to be able to see a movie not filled with dirty language and constant sexually explicit scenes was truly refreshing. Definately an Oscar contender and hopefully winner!

My husband and I saw this movie and we moved by the integrity and devotion of this young man. I wish there were more people like him in sports today.

I saw the movie Cinderella Man yesterday with my parents, on what was the 70th anniversary. I can't put into words how moving this story was. If only more athletes could follow in this man's footsteps and be such a wonderful role model for the youth of today. He made the sport of boxing beautiful. This was the best movie I've seen in a long time.

My husband, I and another couple went to see Cinderella Man last night on the 70th anniversary of his Max Baer fight. The movie is great! and sure to be an Oscar winner. Nice to see stories about real life heroes. I spend a lot of time in the US and am interested in American history and this was a good lesson.

Truly one of the most inspiring stories of all time. Kudos to Ron Howard for bringing this story of determination, drive, and spirit to the forefront today. The story of James Braddock makes me proud to be a resident and elected official within Hudson County, New Jersey. My hope is that James Braddock's story inspires the youth of today to never give up on one's dream of succeeding. Nothing comes easily and fighting for success only makes success that much sweeter. Best of luck to the Braddock family.

After seeing the movie, I called my mother right away to see if she remembered anything about James Braddock. She didn't, but she was interested in hearing about him and shared her stories of the Depression. What a wonderful man!! I wish that I had known his history before seeing the movie; I wouldn't have worried so much. Best wishes to your amazing family.

What a story! I can't believe I didn't know about this before now. This story is a real inspiration, and what's better - it's true. In today's culture of synthetic heroes, Jim Braddock's story of perseverance and integrity are unique.

I have seen this movie twice. What an inspiration! I am so glad that the family of James J. Braddock shared this story with those who made this film. Thank you...

I am 75 years old and remember very well, my father listening to the radio of the James Braddock fights. The movie was certainly a good portraly of the "Great Depression" and the trials that he went through. We all can relate to his problems

I went to see the movie about a week ago and stumbled on this website just the other day.
James Braddock is a man we all could learn from.
He could teach us all a thing or two on what it really means to be a man

Movies like this one are few and very far between in this world where where sex and violence dominate the film industry
