The first time I saw the movie, i was in reno at a theater, and my family and only one other viewer were there which surprised me cause I thought everyone would enjoy it. It was amazing, the whole story and the fights were action packed and a sad story turned into glory, was magnificent, still seeing it over ten times, everytime is still almost as good as the first.

The first time i saw the movie was in a cinema in spain together with my son, my mom and my grandma(who did not undertstand english) all 4 of us where so impressed and taken by the achievement and the love of the family. driving back from the cinema we saw the sun go under into the sea and we all realised it was a special moment with 4 generations in the car. I told my son to remember the bravest and most manly thing he did in this movie was swallow his pride and beg for the money to take his kids back home, and allthough my son was only 10 years old he understood and agreed. it takes a real man to do that for his family. Every time i see this movie it still touches my hearth and i can only hope my boy will grow to be a man like james j. bradock

This is my third posting to your wonderful website about James Braddock. I have seen the film so
many times but every time I watch it seems like the first time. You are truly blessed to have had such an incredible
grandfather. I can truly say that he has inspired me to be strong and couragous in the face of adversity and I have had my share. I purposly watch this film for strength and courage for what I have had to endure. He is my hero. A man among men. My father was as well but he passed in 1978
He was an amatuer boxer and weight lifter so I knew of James Braddock growing up. Thank you so much for telling his story and giving so many of us the story of his life. He had morals and ethics was brave couragous loved his family and continued through his life to care and be the best he knew how. Not many men could have that said about them. May God Bless and keep you all

I just watched the movie Cinderella Man again tonight, and wanted to find out a bit more about the great James J. Braddock. What a wonderful site--many thanks. I esp. enjoyed the actual footage of the fight. What a wonderful story about a man that gave people hope in a dark time. A man who loved his family and country... Jim Braddock is a hero in my book. Thanks again for the excellent website and all the information and photos.

what a great movie! We loved every minute of it and appreciate the positive portrayal of family, dedication to getting up when one is down, and the seemingly honest, humble, and admirable character! Thank you and mention his name with the utmost respect and heart-felt remembrance.

I just watched Cinderella Man for the second time last night and can proudly say it is now my favorite movie of all time. I'm a self proclaimed movie buff and have watched many over the years but will continue to watch this one and recommend it to anyone I can. Cinderella Man is so heart warming and uplifting it really makes my heart smile!

i'm a history teacher and i would rate this movie right next to seabiscuit as a great period piece. not to take anything away from the man because i have the upmost respect for him. ive watched it twice in 36 hours and i cried out of respect for the man both times. in fact, i just finished watching it again and i had to look up info about him on the net, that was how i found this site. i just hope he realizes how much people admire him and appreciate him. i hope he's looking down on us from heaven and smiling and i hope his family his proud - i know i would be.

Being an avid boxing fan for many years, I can honestly say that The Movie-Cinderella Man which (I just viewed), directed by Ron Howard is far better than any out there including ALL the Rocky movies.
Russell Crow did a fabulous job portraying a great boxer with Class, Guts and Determination.
Mr. Braddock had something that most boxers never acquire? A class act?
Coo-does for the movie and The Braddock family should be very proud of an honorable man that has made his mark on history.

Just finished watching the Cinderella Man and I must say Mr. Braddock was a wonderful man. So devoted to his family, country and church. Doing anything and everything to put food on the table and keep his family together. I wish there were more men around like him. His wife and children must have been very proud. God Bless the Braddock family.

Great film, a real man who showed real pride in the face of very hard times, it aspired me to try harder in my own life with my own family.

Just watched the film, brillant!! What a man Jim Braddock was, a true hero! I'm glad to know Jim had Irish roots, and Im delighted to call him one of ours, as far as great Irish men go, he is up there with the best.
Anyone know where his parents came from in Ireland?

I was born and raised in Newburgh, NY, so I know New York and New Jersey very well. Being a former 8th Army Middle Weight Boxer, I can relate to the life of James J. Braddock. Since the movie first came out I watch it evey chance I get. I was curious regarding the real man vs. the character in the movie but learned after viewing this website that the movie is very very close to the real truth. Like everyone else I am inspired by the champ. Given 9-11 and all else that has happened in this country Braddock is a "true American." He brought himself up from his bootstraps, won the most acclaimed sports title in the world and went on to live a very normal life, unlike boxers of this day. James J. Braddock epitomizes what is best in the American Idea; truley a Cinderalla Man!

I cried watching this movie especially when James applied for welfare, and when he took off his hat and asked for help to put his lights back on. Not that many men would swallow their pride to do what James Braddock did, that action alone gave me the utmost respect for him. I wish i had a father like that growing up. James Braddock had true character! After watching the movie and then checking out the website, I have to say, that I'm inspired by such a wonderful man not just for his boxing skills (awesome), but for all the wonderful things he did with his life. Truly a GREAT American and Irishman (I'm Irish-American too). Not only will I remember him when I think of boxing, but everytime I look at the verrazano bridge! My hats off to you Jimmy! THANKS!

James Braddock was a true inspiration. I really enjoyed the movie, but I'm even happier to know it was based on a REAL man (not just another "Rocky" type movie). I want to especially thank Mr. Braddock's family for sharing his story with all of us and for keeping such a wonderful website!

Great man with unbelievable courage and determination. He has shown that nothing is impossible if the person knows his ultimate aim (milk in case of Cinderalla Man). I ma so touched by his character.

Excellent Movie! My son woke up during the movie. Rocking him back to sleep tears fell down my face. Seeing James struggle to provide for his kids is something I hope I never have to do. But the love, courage and determination he showed is something to live by.
